• Micro pins are round, small, close toleranced wire pins. These pins may have grooves, slots, flats and other configurations produced along its shank for application in electronics devices.
• Ceriotec, Shibue Seimitsu and NPS Corporation specialize in miniature precision components such as micro pins from diameter 0.1mm. Materials include stainless steel SUS303, SUS420F, C2700W, C3602, C5441, brass and phosphor bronze.
• Besides Ceriotec`s CNC machining expertise, Shibue Seimitsu and NPS Corporation specialize in escomatic machining of micro pins. Escomatic machining offers strong cost advantage over other methods since automatic coil feeding eliminates bar loading time and produces burr-free cutoffs, giving burr-free micro pins from diameter 0.3mm.
• Micro pins are used as connector pins and terminal pins in miniature and subminiature connectors for computer and automotive electronics devices. These micro pins are ideal for low insertion force or high density connectors as they are burr-free with controlled surface finish and smooth tips. The pins are bright tin plated to extend their shelf life and increase solderability. The plating thickness are considered during machining to ensure final close tolerance diameters.
• Micro pins are also used as insert pins in plastic injection molding. These insert pins are machined with grooves and other surface configurations along the shank or on the end for retention and stops. These micro pins are plated with tin, lead and nickel.
