Japanese Swiss Screw Machining Company Expands CNC Swiss Machining Capacity -
Ceriotec Co., Ltd. has announced that it will invest another US$1 million in new CNC Swiss
screw machines in 2006 to
increase its Swiss screw machining capacity and productivity
Suwa, Nagano, Japan 1 Feb 2006 - To expand its production capacity and machining productivity, Ceriotec has announced that it will invest another US$1 million in new CNC swiss
screw machines in 2006. The company had invested a total of US$5 million in CNC Swiss
screw machines over the 5 previous years.
"We have gradually replaced our cam operated Swiss type screw machines with the latest CNC
Swiss style screw machines. Besides allowing us to eliminate the need for cams and their added
costs, these latest CNC Swiss screw machines make us more competitive as they increase efficiency
by about 30% and allow us to respond rapidly to short production runs and rush order
jobs," says
Hiroaki Oguchi, President of Ceriotec Corporation.
Established in 1951, Ceriotec has been using swiss screw machines or swiss automatics to supply
Japanese watch-making, IT electronics, consumer electronics, telecommunications and automotive
industries with miniature complex profile turned parts from diameter 0.1mm for over 50 years.
Swiss screw machining is used to make small, slender, complex and precision components. In the swiss
screw machine, the bar stock material is gripped tightly and advanced by the sliding headstock
through a guide bushing to the machining section. The machining section consists of stationary
tools which are applied to the emerging bar stock. As only the part of the bar to be machined
is exposed from the guide bushing, there is minimum deflection which allows the turning of
small accurate precision parts. If the part is longer and needs more grip support at the
front end, a sub spindle can be applied to grip it to reduce deflection during cutting.
Accurate and close toleranced parts are possible with tight toleranced guide bushings and finely
ground bar stocks.
Says Mr Oguchi, "Originally designed by the Swiss to make miniature watch parts, Swiss style
screw machines have become the machining solutions for many turned parts manufactured from
difficult to machine alloys and exotic metals. Swiss screw machines excel in manufacturing
a complex profile part in one turning operation, thus eliminating secondary processes and costs. We
look forward to business enquiries through Suwa Precision Engineering, our marketing office
in Singapore."

Japanese Escomatic Machining House Seeks Sales Reps for Marketing in USA and Europe -
Shibue Seimitsu has appointed Suwa Precision Engineering in Singapore as its international sales representative
and seeks sales reps for USA and Europe
Suwa, Nagano, Japan 5 Jan 2006 - To extend its marketing into international markets, Shibue Seimitsu Co., Ltd.,
a specialist in escomatic machining for over 50 years, has appointed Suwa Precision Engineering in
Singapore as its sales representative for the overseas markets outside Japan and China.
Established in 1951, Shibue Seimitsu has specialized in escomatic machining of miniature (diameter 0.3 to 6mm)
precision complex profile parts with tolerance of +-20 microns parts and burr-free finishes for the
electronics and watch industries.
In escomatic machining, as the coil stock is fed through the machine, it is straightened, and
then moved into bushings that are the same size as the stock. The bushings support allows the escomatic
machine to hold a very tight concentricity for the length of the part. The continuously fed self-straightening
coil stock reduces the turning needed to achieve the desired diameter, and also leads to less wasted material,
less down-time for reloading and therefore lower cost.
"Escomatic machining has excellent repeatability throughout mass production. Our ISO9001 certified
factory operates 24/7 to meet your production requirements with minimal workers. We focus on complex
profile escomatic machining of part such as hinge components for cell phones and micro motor shafts, "
says Toshiaki Shibue, President of Shibue Seimitsu.
Says Ken Yap, Director of Suwa Precision Engineering "We hope to help Shibue Seimitsu
reach out to new customers and even appoint other sales representatives in the States and Europe."
About Shibue Seimitsu Co., Ltd.:
Shibue Seimitsu is located in Suwa, Japan, home base of major corporations such as Seiko Epson
and Nidec Sankyo. The company specialize in escomatic machining of connector pins, micro shaft,
micro motor shaft, insert pin for insert molding, and rotary hinge components for mobile phones,
printer head parts, terminal pins for automotive connector components, watch parts.

Japanese Metal Stamping Company Shortens Die Design By Using
Latest Japanese CAE Software -
Nagano Sankoh has licensed CAE metal forming software developed at Japan's RIKEN to
enhance its die design capabilities
Suwa, Nagano, Japan 20/12/2005 - To enhance its competitive edge in the metal stamping
industry, Nagano Sankoh has licensed "ASU/P-form", the latest 3D CAD and CAE press forming
simulation software from Advanced Simulation Technology of Mechanics Co Ltd.
The software which was developed at RIKEN, known internationally as the Institute of
Physical and Chemical Research, will allow Nagano Sankoh to predict metal forming
phenomena with a high degree of accuracy and reduce repetitive tooling changes
specific to complex draw forming stamping.
"This software is able to analyse breakage, wrinkle and spring back in sheet metal
forming very accurately and allows analysis of multiple processes, easy pre-processing
without setting of parameter for analysis, and deals with various materials. The
software will allow us to offer faster and more accurate die design solutions," says Soichi Tamura,
President of Nagano Sankoh.
About Nagano Sankoh:
Established in 1967, Nagano Sankoh specializes in deep drawn metal components
fabricated in single stage progressive and multiple station transfer presses.
About RIKEN:
Established in 1917, it was reorganized as an independent administrative institution
under the Japan Ministry of Education in 2003. RIKEN performs high level basic research
and practical applications studies in the sciences and engineering.
Offering Greater Stamping Efficiency through
Servo Progressive
Stamping - Nagano Sankoh Co., Ltd., Japan, has invested in 4 latest Servo Stamping Presses to offer greater stamping
efficiency for Deep Drawn Components with high accuracy and complicated profiles for electronics
and automotive applications
Suwa, Nagano, Japan 13/12/2005 - "As competition in the stamping industry gets more intense, Japanese metal stampers have to embrace new
technologies and use them to improve the quality of the parts being stamped, the productivity of their
manufacturing equipment, the life of the dies and the flexibility of the manufacturing cells," said Soichi Tamura,
President of Nagano Sankoh.
With the servo press, Nagano Sankoh can virtually key in the stroke, velocity and dwell profile
for any job - all on a single press. Three of the servo presses are AIDA NC1-1100 (D) servo presses
which offer AIDA's proprietary high torque, low RPM servo motor with direct drive.
These servo presses provide the same maximum stroke length and torque rating as a
conventional mechanical press while rendering it possible to achieve full torque from low
speed for greater part accuracy and longer die life. The servo press does not increase
operating costs because its capacitors store energy in the non-working portion of the stroke,
making power consumption comparable to or less than that of a standard mechanical press.
Says Tamura, "These servo presses are nearly double the price of same tonnage mechanical presses,
but we can achieve double the efficiency in our stamping processes, and provide better quality parts not possible
with conventional presses."
About Nagano Sankoh:
Established in 1967, Nagano Sankoh is an established metal stamper of stepper motor housing, connector
shell and air-conditioner components, supplying to the leading Japanese electronics manufacturers.
From its humble beginning with 3 employees and 2 wire-cut machines, the company has grown to own a credible toolroom
equipped with various machine tools including the latest Fanuc wire-cut machine using 0.05mm wire,
ultra-precision Nagashima Seiko CG machine with 0.1 micron resolution, and 16 Aida transfer presses,
48 precision presses and 4 servo presses with press capacity up to 200 tonne.
While Nagano Sankoh was established to design and manufacture stamping dies and provide
precision stamping services, the company has advanced its technical capability from stamping aluminum components
and micro motor cases, to stamping the smallest stepper motor housing of diameter 4.7mm in the world today.
